1930年に産声をあげたA-2は、1943年まで18社に及ぶコントラクターによって総数約70万着が生産された。このA-2は1942年にニュージャージー州のユナイテッド・シープライン社が1度だけ納入した2万5千着を製造したロットのモデル。このモデルに使用している革は、ベジタブルタンニングによって鞣したホースハイドを熟成させ、フィニッシュのピグメントは芳醇なコニャックを彷彿させる魅力的な色合いを持つ一着。外観は角張ったポケットが一番の特徴で、台襟は無いが襟が大きく均整の取れた襟を持つ。スナップボタンは小型のクレーター型ボタンを使用しており、襟やポケットフラップの中に内蔵してある補強革の形状はデュボウ社に見られるような円形を使用。襟元のネックフックは、掛ける側も受ける側もツインアイレット一つでかしめているのが大半だが、このA-2はツインアイレットをかしめる方向面が通常と違うため、必然的にシングルアイレットで補強が必要となる。縫製においては前身頃と後ろ身頃を合わせる肩の部分は、通常、エポレット後方で縫合されるところだが、エポレットの真下で割り縫いされている珍しい仕様。ラベルがハンガーループの下に隠れてA-2のタイトルと型紙番号が見えなくなっているが、そのためコントラクト名が強調されて見えるのは偶然か神の悪戯か、多くの細かい微差に心くすぶられるのがこのユナイテッド・シープラインのA-2である。
The A-2, which first appeared in 1930, was produced by a total of 18 contractors, resulting in approximately 700,000 units being manufactured until 1943. This particular A-2 model is from a batch of 25,000 units delivered by United Sheepskin Co. of New Jersey in 1942. The leather used in this model is vegetable-tanned horsehide that has been aged, and the pigment used for the finish exhibits an attractive color reminiscent of rich cognac. The standout feature of its appearance is the angular pockets, and although it lacks a collar stand, it has a large and well-proportioned collar. The snap buttons are small crater-style buttons, and the shape of the reinforcement leather embedded in the collar and pocket flaps is circular, similar to what is seen in Dubow jackets. The neck hook at the collar can be fastened with a twin eyelet from either side, but in this A-2, the direction of fastening with twin eyelets is different from the usual, necessitating reinforcement with a single eyelet. In terms of stitching, the shoulder area where the front and back panels are joined is usually sewn with a higher back panel height behind the epaulet, but in this unusual specification, it is stitched just below the epaulet. The label is hidden beneath the hanger loop, obscuring the A-2 title and pattern number, emphasizing the order number and contract name instead.
