外見上ミリタリージャケットとは到底考えにくいこのジャケットは、1935年にCivil Conservation Corps（資源保存市民部隊）に支給された。この部隊は世界大恐慌の最中、25歳までの失業者によって運営され、キャンプを通じて職業訓練を施すことを目的としていた。道路建設や土壌保全のための小規模なダム造りなどの公共事業、森林の伐採、植林などの国立公園の維持管理事業に従事した。レザー製のA-1や陸軍が採用したオリーブ色のウールジャケットを彷彿させるボタンフロントのクラシカルな外観を持っているのが特徴。このジャケットは極端に着数が少ないため、実物のオリジナルと遭遇するのは奇跡的である。ラベルに記載された“クォーターマスター・デポ”（陸軍補給部）が、紛れも無い“軍モノ”の証である。
This jacket, which hardly looks like a military jacket at first glance, was issued in 1935 to the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC). The CCC was operated by unemployed men up to age 25 during the Great Depression, providing vocational training through camp programs. They engaged in public works such as road building, small dam construction for soil conservation, forest logging, planting, and national park maintenance. The jacket’s button-front design resembles the leather A-1 or the Army’s olive wool jackets, featuring a classic look. Due to its extremely limited production numbers, encountering an original is almost miraculous. The label marked “Quartermaster Depot” is unmistakable proof of its military origin.
