米空軍において1949年から支給されたタイプE-1トラウザースは、シャツのA-1とセットアップで着用する防寒用インナーシステムである。素材はウールサージを用いており、インターミディエイト用フライトスーツB-15B/A-11B、へービーゾーン用フライトスーツN-2/D-1、N-3/F-1の下に着用することを前提に開発された。ヒップと膝には保護用でクッション性のあるウールパイルが張られ、滑りの良いナイロン地でカバーした凝った仕様。また裾口は外気の侵入を防ぐリブが装着されている。本来はバックシンチが付いてサスペンダーで着用するが、このトラウザースはバックシンチを排除してベルトループを取り付けてモディファイしている。L-2やN-2、N-3シリーズの変遷と同様に、このトラウザースもE-1、E-1A、E-1Bと末尾が変わる毎に規定色が変わって行く。
The Type E-1 trousers, issued by the U.S. Air Force from 1949, are cold-weather undergarments designed to be worn as a set with the A-1 shirt. Made from wool serge, they were intended to be worn beneath intermediate flight suits like the B-15B/A-11B and heavy-zone flight suits such as N-2/D-1 and N-3/F-1. The hip and knee areas are padded with cushioned wool pile covered by a smooth nylon fabric for protection. The trouser cuffs feature ribbing to prevent outside air intrusion. Originally, these trousers came with a back cinch and were worn with suspenders; however, this pair is modified, removing the back cinch and adding belt loops. Like the evolution of L-2, N-2, and N-3 series, the E-1 trousers also saw color specification changes with each suffix change from E-1 to E-1A and E-1B.
