米陸軍で1940年代に支給されたサービスシューズのアーミーラストを使用したブラックバージョン。使用している革は生後6ヶ月前後のカーフスキン（仔牛の革）で、繊維質がきめ細やかで肌目が美しい銀面を持っているのが特徴。履く時に最も負荷が掛かる履き口最後方の仕様は通称ドッグテールと呼ばれる形状を持った仕様で、最上部まで割縫いした場合に負荷が掛かってステッチが切れてしまったり裂けてしまうことを回避したディテール。ソールとヒールはアメリカの古き良き時代のシューズ&ブーツに装着されたキャッツポゥソールを使用している。

バズリクソンズがブランドデビュー10周年の時に初めてプロデュースしたBLACK MA-1。世界的に著名な小説家ウィリアム・ギブソン氏の『パターン・レコグニション』には、登場する主人公が着用する『Buzz Rickson’s Black MA-1』の文字が刻まれている。その小説から飛び出し、実際のBuzz Rickson’s Black MA-1が誕生した。米空軍において1950年代に正式採用となったMA-1の規定色は本来ならセージ・グリーンであるが、色がブラックでミルスペックに基づいた軍規格のパーツ、資材を使用した本格志向のBLACK MA-1は世の中に存在していない。そのため市場において本物志向のユーザーからは好評で話題となった。資材をそれぞれブラックの色で指示してもそれぞれ素材によって染まり方が異なり、それらを一着のジャケットに構成すると微妙に色の差が表れ、フライトジャケットがどれだけの異素材で構成されているのかが明確になる。
A black version of the WWII-era U.S. Army service shoe using the Army last. The leather is calfskin about six months old, featuring fine, beautiful grain. The heel opening uses a “dog tail” design to avoid stitch breakage under stress. The sole and heel use a reproduction of the classic American Cat’s Paw sole.

In the course of writing his novel, Mr.Gibson was aware that no MA-1 jackets were ever produced for the USAF in black but he decided to make the color of Cayce's jacket black, not Sage Green, which is the original color of the MA-1,because Cayce's jacket needed to be black in the creative vision of Mr.Gibson.
