Various details from vintage wartime pieces were combined with original elements to create a special 1940s model. This Made in U.S.A. wartime waist overall is produced at Sugar Cane ’s American factory. Rather than faithfully reproducing a single model, it incorporates details from multiple wartime variants observed over the years. The denim fabric used is S1943, while patterns, parts, and stitchwork are selected from 1942–1946 wartime models. Notably, the pocket bags replicate the cotton flannel lining found in leather jackets released by ROUGH WEAR for civilian use during the wartime period.

SUGAR CANE Super “Denim” Collectibles

Led by Yuichi Fukutomi of Sugar Cane, SCSC was launched by bringing together denim specialists to focus on the finest vintage reproductions. In the 1st and 2nd collections, the label recreated the “character” of dead-stock super-vintage pieces that are now nearly impossible to acquire. Alongside the era’s distinctive original components, all four types of denim produced during the wartime period were revived for the modern day. For the 3rd collection, marking Sugar Cane’s 50th anniversary since its 1975 launch, production returned to the United States―the birthplace of denim workwear―to create new “Made in USA” wartime models. These 1940s special editions combine details from various vintage wartime pieces with original elements to faithfully reinterpret the era’s denim workwear.
