大戦終了直後の1948年に米陸軍が採用した野戦用のM-48パーカーは朝鮮戦争においても着用された。ウールパイルのライナーが取り付けられるライナー脱着システムは十分な保温性を確保することが可能で、厳冬の地である朝鮮半島でも実証された。前身頃の左右にはドットボタンで開閉するフラップ付きのポケットが装備され、左袖に配置されたファスナー付きのシガレットポケットが外観からM-48パーカーを特定する最大の特徴となっている。フードには固定されたコヨーテファーが取り付けられており、必要に応じてコードで絞ることが可能な仕様である。M-48パーカーは後継モデルのM-51パーカーに先立ち、その原型を確立させた。
The M-48 parka, adopted by the U.S. Army in 1948 immediately after the end of World War II, was also worn during the Korean War. The removable liner system, which accommodates a wool pile liner, ensures sufficient insulation and proved its effectiveness even in the harsh winters of the Korean Peninsula. The front features flap pockets on both sides that fasten with snap buttons, and the zippered cigarette pocket on the left sleeve is the most distinctive feature that identifies the M-48 parka by its appearance. The hood features a fixed coyote fur trim and is designed to be cinched with a drawcord as needed. The M-48 parka established the prototype for its successor, the M-51 parka.
